My Dad was on the ship when she was hit. Great memories of his stories and the three reunions I attended. Great crew and great bunch of Navy wives.

Celebrating the 100 year anniverary of the launching of the Marblehead. I am a retired Navy officer (Submariner) that writes stories about everything from submarine history and development to surface ship development in the twentieth century. I particularly admire the bravery of the men of the cruisers.

Great website. Does anyone know the name of the British officer or unit who helped Doctor Wassell on Java?

I was looking for the book "Where Away" when I found your site. I wanted to send it to my grandchildren. My father was John J. Kelly. He was a sailor on the USS Marblehead during the Java Sea action thru the return to New York City. My father would have been 101 years old next month. He died in 1977. God Bless them all.
